Mercedes-Benz honors the SLK with "Edition 10" model

The Mercedes-Benz SLK has reached double digits in age, having first been introduced for sale some 10 years ago. Mercedes marked the occasion at the recently held Paris Motor Show with the "Edition 10" show car, which it has now decided to put on sale beginning in January. The "Edition 10" SLK is mostly comprised of aesthetic tweaks, which include a new matte grey metallic paint job caled "allanite grey Mango" that will be offered on only 350 cars. This special color is an option along with obsidian black metallic and iridium silver metallic, while the base color for the car will be black, which is the new black we hear. Other exerior mods include new "Edition 10" light-alloy wheels painted in dark-gray with a high-gloss "chrome shadow" and dark-tinted rear lights. These additions make the "Edition 10" the most expensive looking SLK we've ever come across. Black leather has also been liberally applied to this special edition SLK's interior, with contrasting silver elements dotted about. The "Edition 10" package is available on the SLK 200 Kompressor (supercharged), SLK 280 and SLK 350 with prices ranging from €37,734 to €47,671, though it doesn't sound like the car will be offered in the U.S. Though the SLK is a high-priced coupe-cabriolet that would seem to have limited appeal to the mainstream, that fact hasn't stopped Mercedes from selling 465,000 over the last decade, which is an average of 46,500 per year.
